“ Family friendly perfect cafe to watch a little ocean or take a little break from the beach excitement. Tucked away upstairs with some wonderful quiches and toys/books for kids of all ages. A piano for playing as well. ”
“ Mr Toots is a Capitola institution. The oldest coffeeshop in Santa Cruz county in fact! If you're coming to Capitola, make sure you're coming to Toots, or you didn't really get the whole experience. It's a great stop from the esplanade to a wharf walk, everyone should have a warm (or iced bevi) for a wharf walk. My lifelong recommendations are chai, or the Mona Lisa, people who are NOT me seem to love the Borgia. I'm a never fruit & chocolate mixer. But really the baked good, especially those baked by Gary are not to be missed. My choice would be cheesecake for a treat, or coffeecake because you deserve it, but they're all good. Everyone who works here is a gem in one way or another. It's a great spot to work or to meet old friends (sometime new ones!) or to just enjoy some music & the view. I like most of the employees playlists. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the view, it's the most picturesque & charming cafe I can think of, the view of the Venitians is unparalleled. The Ocean and Soquel Creek will soothe your soul, water works wonders like that. Not matter what, and this is a non negotiable...Go outside to the deck with your drink, even just for a few breaths of fresh air (or wind whipped rain even), and know you've made it to the breathtaking-est spot in the region, with the best homemade whip cream, well done. ”
“ Toots has been a fixture on the Capitola esplanade for over 45 odd years. Most fun for me is packed house on a cold and rainy day and someone takes control of the piano . . . Good view of Capitola Beach, lagoon, wharf and the Capitola Venetian hotel. ”
“ Mr Toots is one of my two favorite coffeehouses in the Santa Cruz county, and that says a lot because I have been to hundreds! Okay not really hundreds, but it feels that way. Mr Toots is definitely the most charming and unique of the all. When I have out-of-town visitors, this is the coffeehouse I take them to. The baristas are extremely friendly, like I've walked into their kitchen and they're making me a drink or telling me about the latest cake. The place has couches and comfy seating. There are furniture cases of jewelry from local artists and cute little fun thingamabobs to buy and look at, like stickers and clever signs, on counters and walls everywhere you look. There are even books on bookshelves and games. You'll find college students studying, professionals on laptops, families with young children and people with their dogs. It's a very eclectic place with eclectic people. There's a small deck that looks out at the famous houses at the Capitola beach (see photo). There are only 3 or so small tables there so more often than not, they will be occupied, however it is still worth a peek at the view. It is so pretty! I love it here and can't say enough great things about it. ”
“ Visited this the other day - Sunday. Cute coffee shop with the view of the water. The place is cozy with books and games for kids. We just ordered coffees and was pleased since it was cold outside. Service was fast. ”
“ Xmas coffee with smiling employees I believe that gets 5 stars. Great product too ”
“ Historic coffee shop located in Capitola. Who would've ever knew? My husbands union rep is the one who tipped him off about this secret gem. We parked a few blocks away and brought our personal cups to reduce waste. The girl working the counter was very patient with all my questions and do they offer dairy free milk? Yes they do. I also order my drinks decaf to avoid a ton of caffeine, I'm super boring I know. My husband and I, enjoyed our drinks never to the window looking down at the street. There is one bathroom. I can't for sure figure out if wheelchairs can make it in? There is a back entrance, but I didn't check it out. The front entrance is stairs only. ”
“ This local business toots my horn. Mr. Toots Coffeehouse is one of the more memorable spots on my road trip along the coast of California. If you're having trouble locating this hidden gem, just look up! Tucked away on the second floor of a building in Capitola Village, Mr. Toots offers a cozy retreat with a unique charm. Mr. Toots is well known for their unique speciality drinks and delectable baked goods. You'll also find that this is one of the few businesses with a direct view of the famous colorful homes of Capitola. This picturesque backdrop is a must-see when visiting! While I don't normally gravitate towards coconut flavored coffee, I couldn't stop myself from trying the Coconut White Chocolate Mocha. This drink was both creamy and caffeine-strong, a perfect blend. My only mistake was ordering a small. Highly recommend and stopping by and staying for a while. This is a place worth lingering. ”
“ This cute little coffee shop is located in the Heart of the Village in Capitola . You will see the sign and some stairs once u get up there it's a cute little coffee shop . They have tables with games and a big bookshelf with a lots of books to choose from. The star of the show is the little patio they have looking out to the ocean . That view is one of the best you will get in the area . Very relaxing to have your coffee overlooking the beautiful views . They offer pastries and other goodies . The coffee was very delicious the staff was nice . The decor is simple and all over the place I love it . Overall this place is a must visit when in Capitola .. ”
“ One of the most important parts of a good fancy coffee is ...does it actually taste like the flavor it's supposed to taste like? And I'm happy to say, Mr. Toots's coffees did taste very good and like they were supposed to! I got the Amaretto White Chocolate Mocha which was a special flavor, and it was yummy as was the whipped cream on it. My husband got a coconut mocha and my daughter got a cinnamon mocha. We got to enjoy them on the balcony while looking out on the beautiful colorful houses across the way and the ocean. I will definitely make a point of trying the quiche and a pastry next time as they all looked fantastic. ”
